South Australian Premiere
Jump First, Ask Later embodies the spirit of Parkour.
This powerful work tells the collective stories of six young champions of Parkour – stories of first and second-generation Australians overcoming social isolation and stigma through movement.
It may be an adrenaline-pumping extreme sport, but at the heart of Parkour is a mindset of creativity. Scrambling, jumping and tumbling through the urban landscape; Parkour sets up a notion that the obstacles you encounter shouldn’t be avoided but rather deliberately engaged with in order to find your path ‘jump first, ask later’.
Responding to the environment through Parkour has changed a community and the young people in it. This show is real life for students; it is their weekend, their backyard, their streets. To engage the disengaged, inspire the uninspired and give students the opportunity to consider issues that belong to their world, this show is a must-see.
